About Sharon

Sharon Murphy lives and works in Asheville, North Carolina, fully enjoying all that the Blue Ridge region offers. Sharon has been on a lifelong creative journey, integrating her passion for art with a professional career. Mid-career, a fortuitous sabbatical after selling her consulting firm, launched a transition allowing more art and a broader array of media.

She works primarily with vibrant color and transparency to create beauty in two- and three- dimensional fused glass, designing both artistic and functional pieces. Working with the zen-like magic of alcohol ink, she creates botanicals, images of nature and abstracts in black and white with metallic accents that captivate to the imagination. Exploring the depth and luminosity of encaustic medium she creates unique, complex and dimensional works of layered and textured framed art.
